Crash!

So I was looking at some pics of mine and saw that I had forgotten to post these. We were at the Wilson cabin over the Christmas break and Sadie loves to go for rides in her sleigh. She kept saying "go, go" and "wee". It was so cute, so we decided to take her down this small but rather steep hill...now when I took Sadie down the hill everything went smooth and she loved it, but when daddy helped her down the hill, she crashed, and I mean crashed! like the sleigh completely endoed over and Sadie face planted in the snow. To make it even worse, we were trying to be good parents so we buckeled her in the sleigh which made it so she was stuck face down in the snow. When we got her turned right side up she had this look on her face like "what the heck mom and dad?" She never cried, which made us feel better, but she was ready to go back inside the warm cabin after that. I guess she'd had enough adventure for one day!

Stinkin' JAZZ!

Sadie's so bummed that the Jazz sucked it up at the end of the season, so now they face certain elimination against the Lakers. Oh well, we'll still cheer them on! Go Jazz!

I'm so sick of Elmo!

I never thought that Sadie would find something that she likes more than food, but she has and it happens to be a furry red monster named Elmo! Of course, this is my fault. I made the mistake, in my desperation to find something that Sadie would watch, of purchasing an Elmo video. The first thing she says now when she wakes up in the morning is Elmo, Elmo, Elmo (it used to be drink or eat). I'll even hear her saying Elmo, Elmo, Elmo, when she's trying to fall asleep. Sadie will bring me the remote control and say Elmo and point to the TV (that's my cue). Even when the segment changes to another Sesame Street character- she points at the remote and says Elmo (that's my other cue to skip to Elmo). Even when Sadie starts playing with her toys and I think she's not paying attention, I'll turn it off or switch the channel and you would think that I had just broken her arm. I find myself singing Sesame Street songs in my head now. What is it about Elmo that kids just love?

Oh I have something funny. I had to take some large quilts that we took camping last year to be cleaned so they were fresh for this year's camping season, so I took them to a laundry mat with commercial size washers, and when we were there, Sadie kept looking at this old man that had a long white beard. Finally, she looks up at me and says "ho ho ho". I can't believe she remembers who Santa is! and then I was completely embarrassed.

Funny Stories

Here's a few funny stories about Sadie that I wanted to write down so I'd remember them....

Sadie discovered the Oreo cookies in her Grandma's cupboard and starting scarfing down on them. She had Oreo's spread all over her face and clothes, and even though my mom moved the Oreo’s after that, Sadie still goes to that cupboard every day to see if the "cookies" are there. (like mother, like daughter)


Sadie seriously eats so much. If someone’s eating something, she always asks for a bite, so we can’t eat in front of her unless we are willing to share.

Sadie is a little copy cat. She mimics everything we do. Her Grandpa was holding her one time and spit in the sink, so she tried to spit in the sink. My Mom and Cami were at the store with Sadie and there were some severely handicapped people that were being pushed in wheelchairs, and one of them was moaning and groaning and Sadie starting to mimic that person by doing the same thing! Mom was so embarrassed. Her ability to copycat is going to get me in trouble.

The other day, mom tried some shorts on Sadie (first time since last summer that she’s worn shorts). Sadie looks down at the shorts and is just staring at them. Finally she says ah-oh, all gone. (because she thinks half of her pants are missing.)

I can not get Sadie to watch anything on TV. I've tried everything...Cartoons, Sesame Street, DVDs, but nothing has ever worked. The only time she'll look at the TV is when she hears a Giecko commercial (she likes the new ones with the money and the music), so I was very surprised yesterday when I picked her up from my mom's to see her watching TV. What could it be that finally grabbed her attention? It was Americas Funniest Home Videos. Sadie liked watching the people crash and then she'd say ah-oh.

New Calling

So after being Primary teachers for just over 2 years, both Drew and I have new callings in our ward. I'm First Counselor in the Primary Presidency and Drew is Secretary in the Young Mens. Drew is perfectly fit to be in young mens...he's so good with the youth. Me on the hand I'm not so sure about. Well, first of all, let me say that I have grown to love Primary and the children in it so much. I was a little skeptical about our primary teaching calling at the beginning for a couple of reasons. First, we didn't have any children at the time, and I wasn't so sure about how to teach or act towards children, especially if they misbehaved or made off the wall comments. Second, I hadn't seen a Primary room since I was in Primary myself...so I was very hesitant about the whole thing, but over the last two years, and after having a child of my own, I felt much more comfortable and grew to truly love attending primary and teaching the children. Although I still feel completely inadequate and very nervous about my new calling, I am very excited because of my acquired love for Primary and the children in our ward.
