Marriage....

This is a conversation I had with Sadie after driving past the Mt. Timpanogos Temple.

Me: There's where mommy and daddy got married.

Sadie: I want to be married there.

Me: Yes, that would be very nice.

Sadie: Who am I going to marry?

Me: I don't know. You get to pick someone when you're older.

Sadie: I want to marry daddy.

Me: Sorry, mommy is married to daddy. You'll have to pick someone else.

Sadie: Oh...Who?

Me: I don't know. You'll have to pick someone.

Sadie: You pick for me. (Yes! I'm writing this down, so I can hold her to it!)

Me: How about Bowen (6 year old neighbor boy). He's cute.

Sadie: Yeah. He is cute. I will marry Bowen....when he is bigger, cause right now he is little....but he will be bigger....not huge....just bigger.

Me: okay. good idea....wait until he's bigger.

Preschool and Waking Up "Early"

Sadie started preschool yesterday. She's going to Learning Dynamics in Saratoga Springs (my family is an investor, so we pay next to nothing for tuition...which is good, because it's a little pricey for a preschool). Sadie's teacher is awesome, cute, fun, and sweet. My hat's off to her, because she has to have an extra high level of energy to keep preschoolers attention and make learning fun! (something that I defiantly lack). And thanks to my wonderful mom, who is helping me out by taking Sadie to and from preschool.

Now I have to actually get Sadie ready on Tues./Thurs mornings. Before Sadie started preschool, I just dropped her off at daycare and they got her dressed and did her hair- which happened after all the older kids had left for school, (and still happens on Mon/Wed) but now that Sadie's part of that group that goes to school, I have to have her ready for the day before dropping her off at 6:55 a.m. Which means I have to get up at 5:50 a.m. on Tu/Thur. (as apposed to my usual 6 a.m.) Yikes...I know it's only 10 min. right? but there's something about waking up before 6 a.m. that just makes me grouchy. I am not a morning person. Never have been, never will be. (Note: not only is waking up early hard for me, but staying awake and focused for 10 hours straight behind a desk can be very difficult when I'm lacking sleep, especially when I'm trying to type meeting minutes.) I was so spoiled over the Holidays when I took time off work. We would put Sadie to bed at night really late and then she would sleep in until 9 a.m.....which means we slept in till 9 a.m.!!! I will admit I felt a little guilty for doing that....but it was the holidays, so I'll just chalk it up to one of the many guilty pleasures I indulged in during the Christmas Break!

Jumping back to dropping off Sadie at 6:55 a.m.......sometimes I feel like I'm the only Mormon FULL-TIME working mom in the world with a "little one", but it's not true (obviously)....there are others out there. I know this because there are actually other small kids at daycare when I drop Sadie off at 6:55, which means there are other moms that have more then one "little one" and have to be to work before I do!! See, I knew I really didn't have it that bad. :)

I guess what made me think of all this was that I overheard a conversation between 2 other preschool moms that were saying it was so difficult to have their child to preschool so early (early being 9 a.m.). and then I started feeling sorry for myself because I wish I could say that 9 a.m. was early for me! Oh how quick I am to feel sorry for myself, when really I need to do a better job of counting my blessings- because there are many, many blessings in my life.....a wonderful hard working husband, good jobs, financial stability, good health, a beautiful and smart daughter, knowledge of the restored gospel, and helpful family close by! Just to name a few :)

Honesty

This was Sadie's always honest comment from a few days ago.

"I'm nice, so Santa will bring me presents,........but I'm a little bit mean too."

She must have felt guilty saying she was nice, becasue her time-out for pushing her cousin was still fresh in her memory :)

Update on Sadie

I had these done for Sadie's favorite Aunt Cami Jo for Christmas.

So for journaling purposes- here's what's new with Sadie- (Christmas and winter pics coming soon!)

At her 3 year old wellness check-up we found that she is in the 30% for height, and the 80% for weight. Think about that for a minute, and yes, she is a little on the chubby side compared to other kids her age. The doctor kindly used the words "disproportionate", and that she will eventually even out, but that she will probably be on the shorter side. (we of course, think she's perfect!)
Her favorite colors are purple, and pink. She's very into princesses right now- her favorite is Belle, from Beauty and the Beast. She tells me that the beast was not nice, but now he is, and he turns into a prince, and kissed Belle. Sadie giggles anytime a princess is kissed in a movie. She also really likes Snow White. Of all the Disney princess movies, it surprises me that this is one of her favorites- this movie was made 60 years ago, can it really be that entertaining for that old of a movie? (YES!).

She finally has a hair style! How exciting is that?! She loves for me to do her hair. The daycare that she goes to does the cutest hairdos- so I get all my ideas from them. Sadie still loves her daycare, and going to grandma's house while I'm at work. If fact, on Thursday nights I tell her, "you get to stay and play with mommy all day tomorrow", and she simply says, "no, I want to go to Sandy's and Grandma's". You would think that this would make me feel bad, and it does a little, but I'm mostly glad, and feel better knowing that she's loved, taken care of, and has fun when I'm not there. I would feel very guilty and sad if I had to take her to daycare kicking and screaming.

She remembers everything! Really, she blows me away everyday with the stuff that she says and can remember.

She loves to sing and tell stories, but only at home. She gets really quiet around people she doesn't know very well, but once she warms up to someone, watch out- she won't stop talking!

She loves her gymnastics class and likes to show us her "tricks".

She loves to get dressed by herself, and when she wears the beautiful dress that Grandma bought her, Sadie will say her name is "Sadie Taylor Swift". Sadie can even recognize Taylor Swift's voice on the radio, even if she hasn't heard the song before.
She does NOT like chocolate. (weird.) Instead she prefers crackers and fruit snakes as a tasty treat.

Sadie is becoming more and more helpful at home, and is a really good girl.

If I could describe Sadie in 4 words it would be girly, girl, girly, girl. She is way into hair, clothes, makeup, sparkles, and princesses. Really....she's more of a girl than I am, and she's only 3!

We love Sadie so much! She makes us smile and laugh every day, and I love kissing her chubby cheeks!

Hawaii

Our trip to Hawaii was wonderful!

Our resort- The Fairmont Orchid in Kona

In between snorkeling and hanging out on the beach and by the pool, we went on a helicopter ride to see the valleys and waterfalls.

We also rented a Harley for one day, and drove around the island.

Hunting Pheasants

Happy Birthday Sadie

Happy 3rd Birthday!
