Preschool and Waking Up "Early"

Sadie started preschool yesterday. She's going to Learning Dynamics in Saratoga Springs (my family is an investor, so we pay next to nothing for tuition...which is good, because it's a little pricey for a preschool). Sadie's teacher is awesome, cute, fun, and sweet. My hat's off to her, because she has to have an extra high level of energy to keep preschoolers attention and make learning fun! (something that I defiantly lack). And thanks to my wonderful mom, who is helping me out by taking Sadie to and from preschool.

Now I have to actually get Sadie ready on Tues./Thurs mornings. Before Sadie started preschool, I just dropped her off at daycare and they got her dressed and did her hair- which happened after all the older kids had left for school, (and still happens on Mon/Wed) but now that Sadie's part of that group that goes to school, I have to have her ready for the day before dropping her off at 6:55 a.m. Which means I have to get up at 5:50 a.m. on Tu/Thur. (as apposed to my usual 6 a.m.) Yikes...I know it's only 10 min. right? but there's something about waking up before 6 a.m. that just makes me grouchy. I am not a morning person. Never have been, never will be. (Note: not only is waking up early hard for me, but staying awake and focused for 10 hours straight behind a desk can be very difficult when I'm lacking sleep, especially when I'm trying to type meeting minutes.) I was so spoiled over the Holidays when I took time off work. We would put Sadie to bed at night really late and then she would sleep in until 9 a.m.....which means we slept in till 9 a.m.!!! I will admit I felt a little guilty for doing that....but it was the holidays, so I'll just chalk it up to one of the many guilty pleasures I indulged in during the Christmas Break!

Jumping back to dropping off Sadie at 6:55 a.m.......sometimes I feel like I'm the only Mormon FULL-TIME working mom in the world with a "little one", but it's not true (obviously)....there are others out there. I know this because there are actually other small kids at daycare when I drop Sadie off at 6:55, which means there are other moms that have more then one "little one" and have to be to work before I do!! See, I knew I really didn't have it that bad. :)

I guess what made me think of all this was that I overheard a conversation between 2 other preschool moms that were saying it was so difficult to have their child to preschool so early (early being 9 a.m.). and then I started feeling sorry for myself because I wish I could say that 9 a.m. was early for me! Oh how quick I am to feel sorry for myself, when really I need to do a better job of counting my blessings- because there are many, many blessings in my life.....a wonderful hard working husband, good jobs, financial stability, good health, a beautiful and smart daughter, knowledge of the restored gospel, and helpful family close by! Just to name a few :)

It is really hard to be a working mom in Utah County. When I was working when we just had Crew I was the only working mom who worked outside of the home with a kid. It's hard when you see so many others who get to stay home with their kids. I totally get it. That is really early to get Sadie up and ready. I do not envy that at all. Drake is so awful at waking up in the morning. He's my lazy boy. And just to get Crew at school at 9 is hard for poor Drake. I say you get to feel sorry for yourself. It is really hard. And people just don't get that unless they've been there. But look at the fruits of your labor. Sadie is so smart and so cute! And you've got wonderful grandparents that are so willing to help! I say cheers to a great job as a great set of parents!

I feel your pain - there is nothing worse then pulling them out of bed to go to the babysitter, but I think we are better moms for working & keeping up with our kids!!
