Congrats Shawnee!

Yeah! My adorable niece made Drill Team at Westlake High School! Shawnee is the oldest of my 12 nieces and nephews on Drew's side and will be a freshman this fall. We love her fun personality and are so proud of her! Congratulations Shawnee!

P.S. I still have my Purple Pioneer Pride, but for right now...go Westlake!

Deep Thoughts- By Teisha

My deep thought for the day-

I've heard many times that by exercising, you'll have more energy,- but how do you find the energy to exercise in the first place?

"24"

I have to give another farewell, this time it's to "24", the series finale is tonight.

Since Drew and I were married, (and with the help of a DVR,) we have been enthralled with the awesome character of Jack Bauer. He's tortured and killed and maimed any number of people- but always in an effort to protect the good people of America. I know some of the plots have been a little outrageous, and how many times did Jack have to find a hidden bomb? But it's always been exciting and left us dying to see the next episode.

This is the only TV series Drew and I watch, (okay, I sometimes give into the guilty pleasure of Grey's Anatomy once in a while), so we'll no longer have a show, which makes me sad, especially because this has been a long and good tradition for us.

So I hope Jack Bauer finally finds happiness (although it's doubtful), and I'm keeping my fingers crossed for "24", the movie!

Farewell Jazz and Thanks

One more season comes to another sad ending (sigh). Drew and I ended up with awesome tickets to last night's game. (Drew works with someone that's friends with one of the refs- or something like that.) We ended up leaving early in the fourth quarter, and Drew started cheering for the Lakers- you do have to give them credit- they are an awesome team. At least the Jazz gave us a good series against Denver, and I can now sleep instead of staying up late to see the outcome of the games. Thanks Jazz for the big push at the end of the season and exceeding all expectations, and thanks for producing an awesome rookie- Wesley Matthews- my newest favorite player. I'm sorry that the season ended with a sweep- the first ever for the Jazz in a seven game series, but I will still be back cheering for the Jazz next season!

Notes: My Grandpa Smith never misses a Jazz game. I watched Jazz games on his big screen TV at his house ever since I can remember, and for some reason it stuck with me, and I always try to watch their games. I don't even like playing basketball (maybe because I never have), but love to watch it!

Christmas???

Sadie's been singing Christmas songs all day, such as Jingle Bells and Santa Clause is Coming to Town....but can I really blame her when it looks and feels like winter! This is crazzzzzy!

Bruised

Beware: This is what happens when a horse falls on your leg.....

My horse, Jack, has a tendency to drag his feet. He has tripped before with me riding him, but he's never actually fallen down until now. I had him at a fast lope when he tripped and went down, and once I hit the ground and realized that my leg was pinned under him, I thought for sure he was going to roll right over me, but luckily he was able to stop his momentum and stand up. Jack skinned his nose pretty good, and he's not stupid, because after that he started picking up his feet!
It's been a long time since I've had a good crash on a horse- the worst was when I was 14 and was bucked off and rolled my ankle. I've been thrown from horses since then- but nothing serious- just the wind knocked out of me.
I'm not nervous about getting on a horse again, but it does make me more aware of how dangerous horses can be. It's easy to forget that because I've been around horses so long, but this is a good wake up call that I still need to use caution when riding....especially when it comes to letting Sadie ride horses. For example, we were leading Sadie around on the horse and she was just holding the horn by herself and sometimes she would let go and throw her hands in the air and say "look at me, look at me!", and we just thought it was funny, but I really should be more careful, because one off step by the horse could mean her hitting the ground.
Sadie really likes horses, so it'll be interesting to see if she becomes my little cowgirl! But that thought kind of freaks me out! I've ridden lots of horses and have never been scared, but now that I have a daughter, the thought of her riding a horse is scary to me!

Terrific Toilet Trained Two-Year-Old

Sadie has been accident free for two weeks now, so I hope it's safe to say that she is potty trained! She'll be 2 1/2 in a couple weeks.
